Curriculum

The Durham Diocesan Board of Education’s vision is to provide excellence and equity for all children in a Christian context.

The school’s curriculum will provide all learners with a range of opportunities that will excite and inspire, supporting all children so they can achieve individually and make a positive contribution to society. It will be a curriculum that allows and assists children to succeed and make the best of their talent and ability. Developing leadership and an expectation of service will be a cornerstone of the school. Children will have the opportunity to take responsibility for their own learning and supporting that of others, and the chance to contribute to and lead developments in their own community.

The education vision for Wynyard Church of England Academy is influenced by the needs we have identified in the community and underpins the curriculum design for the proposed school. The Joint Education Team working across the CE Dioceses of Newcastle and Durham already gained invaluable experience through the successful management over 90 primary schools, 9 middle/high/secondary and all-through schools, 6 Independent Schools and 3 Affiliated Schools and this experience has allowed us to analyse the needs of the local community very accurately and inform the design of the proposed curriculum.
